The history of Maritime Overseas is part of the history of its CEO, Mr. Yves Teruin.

After working for a French group for several years, Mister Yves Teruin turned to Africa to launch a transportation business in Pointe Noire, from Republic of Congo.

Thus was born, in 1982, Express-Afrique, which developed its activity in “road transport, lifting and handling” to meet the needs of the oil industry throughout the Congolese territory and also to Cabinda, the Angolan enclave near Pointe-Noire.

Based on its experience and a reflection on the complexities of transport in the sub-region, Ocean Express was created in 1996, to offer a unique maritime service adapted to the specific needs of oil and industrial operators present in the Gulf of Guinea using a diversified fleet of Supply, LCT and Bulk carriers. Subsequently, complementary services to this activity have been developed, such as shipping agency, crew assistance, transit and other logistics solutions, including warehousing at the port and airport of Pointe-Noire.

For a better organization, the decision was subsequently taken to separate the shipping activity from the other activities of Ocean Express and Express-Afrique, with the creation of ”Maritime Overseas”, specializing in maritime transport and international multimodal freight.

Today, Maritime Overseas Co.Ltd, whose head office is in Mauritius, develops its activity from the support base of Pointe-Noire and its subsidiaries in Romania, Ghana, Senegal and Mauritania and provides ”Africa Coastal Express”, a regular service that operates between Luanda in the south and Abidjan in the north, with its own vessel, the Oya-1.

This service can be extended on request, from Walvis Bay in the south to Nouakchott in the north.

Today the ”Maritime Overseas” group has developed a comprehensive know-how in the coastal maritime field of the region with a strong team spirit that allows to treat each operation as a new job in a new environment, even if it has been executed several times before. This spirit guarantees the absence of complacency and the incentive to look for innovative methods to improve all operations for the benefit of our clients.
